Oh.. it's me again..
Hey all!
I've thought about it and have decided to get rid of my coupe. I wanted to pull the 94 cobra 302 out of it and fix it up a bit and put it in my fastback sinc it doesn't have the original engine anyway. I found out today that the 94 302 has a mild cam and a edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold on it. So, what would be a god size carb to stick on it, I want decent gas milage(relatively), while keeping good power. Also, I'm pulling my 2.8ish 8" rear end off the coupe and replacing the 4.11 8" that's on the fastback right now. I know I'm going to lose some acceleration by doing that, but I'm tired of cruising down the freeway at 3500rpm. With that engine set up, what would be a decent trany to get? I'm looking for a 5 speed, but I don't want to get the TKO since it's so damn expensive. If nothing else, I'll just stick with my 4 speed and attempt to fix it as it's VERY crappy right now. So, I'll let you all mull that over and get back to me before I start getting into too many questions. =) You're all the most knowledgable group I've seen, I know you won't let me down!
Thank you.

RE: Oh.. it's me again..
a T5 with 2.80's would make an almost useless 5th gear, even if you went with a 0.80:1 ratio.
I'd see if you can't trade the 4:11's in the 8" for 3.55's. That would put you under 2K rpm at 65 with a .65 fifth gear.
Pick up the whole T5 with bell housing from an 89-93 5.0. Just make sure to pop the cover and inspect it thoroughly. Most wrecking yards offer an exchange within a certain amount of time. Down the road, you can build the heck out of the T5 if you start pushing some serious power. When all is said and done, you'll have an excellent transmission that will handle all the power your rear end can take.
I'd go with a 600 cfm vacuum secondary. That way you have room to grow, but reasonable fuel mileage when driven conservatively.
Tuned correctly, and driven conservatively, you could see well more than 20mpg.
Good luck,
