out of gas
I have a '67 289, it ran out of gas while it was idleing. I put about four gallons in the tank after it ran out, but gas is still not getting to the carb. Should I just keep cranking it until gas comes through or is there somthing else wrong?
Also as I was trying to start the car I killed the battery. Is there a certain type of battery I should buy or what amps/voltage rating is acceptable.

RE: out of gas
press the pedal to the floor SLOWLY about 3 times and then try to start it. You have air in the lines, the fuel pump needs to refill your carb bowls so your car can start. If your battery went dead, the first thing to check is ALL the cables including any ground wires to see if the connections are dirty, corroded, loose. If all is good, get your battery checked to see if it will hold a charge. If it will, then either your voltage regulator is preventing the battery from charging, or your alternator output is low.
