going to a pointless ignition...any suggestions?
Hi all!
I am getting ready to get rid of my points. Any suggestions on what system to use? All I see in the catalogs is the Pertronix but I understand that Mallory has a system too?
Thx, Walt

I love my MSD system with the 6AL box that limiter has saved my engine a couple times where the throttle stuck. It always starts quickly and runs great.

+1 on the MSD. You can even use your current dizzy to get started with....

I agree, I have Pertronix I on my 66 with no problems ,also since is not very expensive and very easy to install I have a spare one, in case of failure I can change it and be on the route in few minutes.

i'm using a pertronix unit and it works great. i liked the fact that you use your current set up and it looks stock. i also am using a stock solenoid and stock yellow top coil.
one of the best things i did was buy a 10 dollar electronic voltage regulator from Autozone and swapped covers w/ my original Autolite mechanical regulator. works great and looks factory correct.
different gaps in plugs can greatly affect system as well. plug gaps are trial and error beyond factory recommendations. I think i gaped mine wider than factory spec's and it really made a big improvement. trial and error in small increments.
oh, and make sure you have a good set of plug wires. i bought a set of pertronix black ones since i don't care much for the pretty colored ones.
