The proper terms lesson has been great for me.. and the knowledge behind them too.
I think I fit in the category of a lot of noobs when they first get in to this type of hobbie.
At first we want to know the general terms and issues.. but as we read more and more, we want to develop an understanding behind broad answers such as
"you have to over haul the motor"
Love the forum so far, thanks for all the info!

If it were my engine, I think I would do a couple of tests to make sure what the problem most likely is. First, I would do a compression test, then while my spark plugs were out, I would check each of them for carbon/oil buildup. I would take the mileage of the engine into account, then decide what to do from there. I am one of those who would never overhaul the heads and not the bottom end at the same time. Chances are that if your heads are worn out, the bottom end is not too far behind.

Alot of times pistons that have been involved in detionation, and have been scored or pitted will create a blow by through your vlave cover breathers.
