Default Sound deadener on floors

Greetings!

I have heard that some folks have bought from Lowes or Home Depot,
an asphalt kind of material that they have put on the floors, prior to carpet
to help resist moisture and that acts as a sound deadener. Has anyone else
heard of this?

Thanks.

Yeah, Peel and Seal from Lowes about $14 a roll...does basically the same as similar high dollar asphalt based with foil cover sound dampeners do for a lot less. Read the reviews and choose...

peel and seal in our 67 coupe..

I did the entire floor and sidewalls in the trunk of my 98, and mind you im not INSIDE the trunk while im driving, so I wouldnt know the difference of how much it would make on the floor(did u get that?), but I dont think it was very good. Yes it is cheap and better than nothing, but if your gonna do the entire floor your gonna need 3-4 rolls anyways, so you might aswell shell out a tad more cash for top end and do it better....

I have used both dynamat extreme and edead v1se. I have had the dynamat installed in my pathfinder for 3 years and it hasn't moved a bit. On very hot days I have had a lot of problems with the edead sticking to the doors. I did not prep the doors as well as I should have but edead is a great buy as long as the prep and install work is good. Elemental design also has a liquid sound deadener that would work awesome on the floors, most likely better then anything else. It looks like edesign just changed thier backing on the edead. Here is the websight.

I would put edead v1se down and then follow with some edead v3. That would have great results.
