Default cowl vent cover installation?

hey, my cowl vent is leaking so I ordered a cover from mustangs plus. The fasteners have a black piece that I can't get into the hole...does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? In any case, I need to get this installed because pulling the car to Washington on a carrier and worried about it getting wet inside...yeah, I know it looks crappy, but it will have to do.
Thanks.

The black **** piece goes on top. Loosen the **** and there should be a small piece that slides between the vents. Put that between the vents and turn it 90 degrees and tighten the **** to secure it.

Does your car have that many coats of paint on it that the little 'L' style clip doesn't fit through the metal vents?

If it goes in the slot just turn it sideways and tighten the ****. Are you guys transfering or doing a home port shift?

okay, I'll try that. We're transferring to Whidbey Island, but he's in Florida and I'm doing the move by myself. Looking forward to it, but not looking forward to it. I've pulled a boat before, but not a car...can't be much different right???

As long as you have towed before and you have a good truck you will be fine. Navy wives are tough!

The only real differnce if you're using a tow dolly is its impossible to backup. If its a trailer its the same as the boat. If its a tow bar don't know never done it. Moving is always a joy we've done it four times in the last 5 years and I still hate it.

I'm pulling the mustang with a tahoe Z71, so I think I'll be okay. It's the dogs and the baby that might make me crazy though. Tomorrow I'll take a pic of this vent cover and the pieces that go with it, then upload it and ask my question again. It's late and I'm already frustrated that the battery was dead in the mustang because I left my ipod in it. Oh, and thanks a bunch for the compliment, although right now I have a few choice words for the Navy making me do this move by myself :O)

no, it's not a dolly. I rented a car transport from uhaul and if they service it like they service the rest of their stuff, then I'm in for a rough ride. we'll see. hey thanks for the gouge on reminding me that backing up is the same as backing the boat up..hehe..I honestly forgot!
