Stupid Question: What is this pedal for?
I am not a total moron, but I just can't figure this one out. I bought a '67 fastback from a guy who took it apart 21 years ago. I plan on doing an Eleanor / ground up restoration. I am in the process of taking the car further apart to send it off to have the body work done. So here is the question.
I have a gas pedal, brake pedal, and clutch pedal. To the left of the clutch is another pedal!! What is this for? To add more details, I also have a parking lever located under the dash. Is this "extra" pedal part of the parking brake system? It does not appear to be, as the parking brake system is fully intact and functional (I think). I can see where something goes through the firewall, and it has a spring dangling off of it. So the guy disconnected something here. Now, what is it???
Thanks for your help!

That "extra" pedal sounds more like the parking brake to me, you better check the parking brake system out further to be absolutely sure your's isn't disconnected underneath the car.

ORIGINAL: FFRCobra
Nope, it is indeed part of the windshield washer system. It is referred to as the "Foot-Pedal Windshield Washer System" in the Ford Shop manual.

The high beam switch is mounted below this pedal.
Seriously, this is indeed a manual windshield washer system. It has an electical switch on the pedal that syncronizes the wipers when you push on the pedal. No joke!!!!
Apparently there was an option for an electrical washer system. Cheap bastard who originally bought the car did not opt for it. I thought about converting it, but now I think it will be cool to keep it original!
Ahh, the joys of owning a classic.
