He wants me to have an old mustang, it's just we're a middle class family and he wants to make sure that if I buy a car we don't have to spend thousands of dollars ontop of the cost of the car to fix it immediately. So I guess I shouldn't have asked about the engine because he's all of a sudden okay with that, now its about the body having problems because it has a primer coat.

I drive my dad's yukon and i've driven my friends '81 bronco with a 351 in it so he knows I can handle it.

And I really don't like doing full throttle blasts, I know that wastes to much gas. If I want to go fast I hop in my friends '74 datsun 260z and we have some fun in that.

Well the reason I don't like doing full throttle blasts is because i'm currently stuck in my older brothers old '96 pathfinder. Not exactly the same as a mustang when it comes to putting the pedal to the metal ya know? If/once I get a mustang I know i'll be guilty of a quite a few blasts to show up the kids with brand new cars in my high schools parking lot.

Being in primer doesn't mean it has been in a wreck. The PO just may have been in the middle of a restoration, and paint was next. And, depending on the type of primer used, and how it was applied, I have seen cars in primer go for years without any rust problems.
