289 TO 302 conversion

Default 289 TO 302 conversion

i have a stock 289 in my 66 coupe and i bought a 302 crate motor bored .40 and i was wondering if that engine will bolt up to my c 4 transmission. i know that i will need swap out the stock rear end and transmission but i don't have the money right now so i just want to put the motor in for now. thanks, kevin

Whats wrong with your stock rear end and transmission? Are the from a I6?

no they are not from a inline 6 but this motor is goin to be pumpin out close to 350 horses and all you guys have them ford 9" rear ends with bad *** motors. so i know i will need something more to hold all the horsepower. what would be a good transmission and rear end to put in my 66 coupe? about how much money am i going to be looking at?

you should be ok ..unless you got a 428cj. or a 408w.

Agreed. You should be fine. My suggestion would definately be a 9" and a Toploader 4 speed(but those cost bucks!).
