i want to replace my export brace and add a monte carlo bar. when i looked at my export brace i notices that it's welden to my shock tower? aren't they supposed to be bolted on? also, when i looked at the export braces i see 1 that says " CONCOURSE " what does that mean? [sm=helpout.gif] THANKZ!

the stock export brace connects to the firewall and then slips into the two tabs that extend off the shock tower. The aftermarket export braces (like the one below) extend all the way over the top of the shock towers and are bolted in place with the shock mounts. If you want to go with the aftermarket one, you have to grind off the tabs that extend off of the shock tower. I am assuming that the "concourse" correct version will simply replace the existing brace that came stock on the car (accepts the tabs that come off the shock towers)

Wow that is a nice engine bay. I know one thing for sure, mine's never going to look like that.

Adrian1:

Do you have any pics of the engine bay? It sounds like somebody did something really weird there. As previously stated, the braces should be held on by bolts at the shock towers.

Adrian, naw it is super easy if you have a grinder. Just follow the weld line and try not to let it jump into the tower. GO SLOW, and periodically check to make sure you aren't eating into the tower. You will have to do some finishing once you get the bracket off (the welds leave that top edge kinda bumpy). I will see if I can dig up some old pics, I think I took pictures of this exact process when I was doing mine.
