Default 1966 Ford Mustang Carburater

I have a 1966 Mustang with an inline 6 cylinder engine (120hp, I think?) and a carburater that my friend hasn't seen in a looooong time. It's a single chamber type of thing.

I've been having problems with the car stalling, shutting off, and, especially, bogging down. We elliminated just about every prospect, and now we're down to the problem lying with the carburater. We rebuilt it only to find that whoever messed with the engine before us rebuilt it completely wrong (pieces of the carburater were in opposite places and there's an area where a part is missing and the spot was purposefully closed off).

After we rebuilt it, and tuned it up, it's still giving me problems. Stalling wasn't an issue anymore, although this morning, the car shut off on me. But bogging down is still a big issue. Very annoying. So, I've come to the conclusion that I will need to get another carburater.

Can anyone suggest a carburater I should get?

Hmmm... The guy I was workin' on the car with said that the carburater I have doesn't look like the right one for my car. The Autolite 1100 looks similar to mine, but different. There are other types of carburaters for my car, right? Just to make sure...

The Autolite 1100 single barrel carb is the one that came with your car. Some on here say it is a dog, and it is if used right out of the box. Check with http://www.ponycarbs.com to see what a rebuilt 1100 from them would cost you. They are more expensive than others who rebuild carbs, but they get it right. Their 1100 won't bog on you like a factory one will.
