Default suspension help?

im builing my 69 mustang to be a mild street machine with 300-400hp i want to drop the old crusty suspension. I dont need it to really carve the corners quick but it needs to be kinda easy to drive on twisty roads because there alot in the area where i live. Im really looking for straight line performance and cheap to i dont want to spend a fortune in suspension is it possible to keep it within $1200-1500 range even cheaper would be great. i was thinking the whole kit from Grab-a-trak suspenion the one that mustangs unlimited sells for $825.

You just need to do some searching.

FWIW - I did everything except Steering box and spindles on my 66' for about 800 bucks. ( parts ). NPD had everything I needed. I went w/ a step up from stock to stiffin things up some, mainly because I am not a small person and I wanted to be confident that I could stretch things out and it hold up.

Do a search in ebay for "suspension" and then look at the kits Laurelmountainmustang offers. Some of the kits are just factory specs but some are performance too. Hopefulyl Ill soon be getting my rear kit for 300 and its lowerd springs, kyb shocks, swaybar, and all the hardware.

I just bought the Ultra Suspension Kit from Mustang Depot, they ship quick and cheap plus no tax outside of NV. It lists for $879 and includes just about everything you could need for front and rear suspension. I upgraded it a bit (Maier Racing Control Arms & 4.5 Mid Eye Leafs/Roller Perches and a few others). I'll be doing the Shelby drop and installing the CSRP Granada disc conversion at the same time. I'll let you know hwo it works out in a few weeks.

There are a bunch of places to get these kits. Look at their shipping costs and if they are going to hit you with tax or not.

If you want to soften up your suspension and yet still handle, a set of roller spring perches really go a long way in softening the ride while also increasing grip.
Throw on some decent shocks, 1" sway bar and some chassic reenforcement and you can have a great riding car without a harsh ride.

I just installed the Mustangs Plus Grab-A-Trak suspension kit on my '69. I got 4.5 leafs, kyb shocks and a 1 1/8" sway bar up front. I had their subframe connectors welded in and will be putting in a rear sway bar sometime soon.

The ride is AMAZING. I cannot begin to describe the difference... it feels like a new car or better. The only things I would have done differently would be the Shelby drop, roller-spring perches, and heim-jointed strut rods.
