My Car Is Stalling
Hello Everyone. New here. Got a 65 mustang with a 289 and it likes to stall at stop signs or just parked. it seems to be more frequent in colder outside temps. if i hold the gas to about 1700 rpms or so, itll stay running, but that is a pita! the car runs really well other wise. i dont know if its the alternater, the battery being moved the the trunk, or ignition coil, or distributer or fuel or what! please Help!!!!

RE: My Car Is Stalling
Because its more frequent at cold temp its probably a non operational choke and or low idle speed, The idle speed when warm should be 700 ish in gear with choke full open.
You want about 1,000 rpm high idle in gear with choke somewhere between 60 to 75% closed.
Check to see if the choke plate moves at all
Adjust choke activated high idle screw.
Check idle speed in gear when warm with choke open full

+1 on the choke not operating correctly. When you try to move forward, does the engine balk on you? If you give it a lot of gas when moving forward, does that work? If the answer to both questions is yes, then check the operation of your choke.
