RE: How Much CID do you need?
350 ci is a tiny engine. Anything smaller is very tiny. 400ci is a small engine, could always use more stroke in a 400. 450ci is about right for a daily driver. 500ci is about right. 540ci is a good siezed engine. 600ci is getting big. and over 700ci is a huge engine..
If I could drive around with a Top Fuel amount of power every day, I would. For me just having it is enough, I dont have to use it at every stoplight, but passing someone on a 2 lane is so much easier with 600hp than it is with 180hp...
In reality, you are only limited by what you can make with the engine that will fit in your car. Limted by the amount of power you can put down through the tires. How much money you have for fuel and or building that mega engine.
I plan to circumvent the fuel issue and make my own. Building a still to make ethanol and bio diesel this winter. I cna run over 13:1 with the ethanol... oh yeah... MEGA POWA! Might even get into a blower of turbo setup too..

RE: How Much CID do you need?
Too much doesn't exist. It all depends on how much you can put to the pavement and how well you can modulate your gas pedal. For a completely stock suspension, I wouldn't go much above 350hp. Modify the suspension, and the sky's the limit.

Not to rain on your parade, but you can only stuff so much CID in that little engine compartment. Anything bigger than a 351 ain't gonna fit in that 65. Try to squeeze as much power out of a 351 as you can, or alter the engine bay.

there is a thing as too much horsepower and too much torque. You need to have enough traction and the driving ability to handle the power. I am willing to bet that there is at least one member of this forum that does not have the ability to drive a Feiesta. Not everyone is a John Force or a Michael Schumacher

Not enough yet, but its a start... 500ci is easy to do. Aftermarket blocks, stroker cranks, sky is the limit especially on big blocks.
All aluminum aftermarket engine with a billet crank, twin turbos, runnin methanol.
First test block dyno numbers: torque 2,105.2 ft-lb, and HP was 2,886.0 @ 7200 rpm
with a 4.250 bore and 4.250 stroke & 40+ lbs of boost (482 c.i.)
I dont want one.. I NEED THREE OF THESE!

There are 427 stroker kits for the 351W. Real easy to come up with the parts. So a 427ci engine will fit rather easily in a 64 Falcon or Mustang.. twist and shout/cuss...
