Default New steering wheel center for 65' GT

Hey everyone, just figured I would share this. I wrote a program for a CNC machine to make a new steering wheel center for my 65' GT. It's not perfect yet, its a little to big, but hopefully I can by pass that with a little bigger end mill. We'll see. So here it is.

Very cool! Can you imagine what Ford could have produced if they had the computer power in your CAD program back in '65?

As a side note, anodizing aluminum is pretty easy. You can do it at home with a little electrolyte, a battery charger and some Ritz dye.

***Edited for spelling. Thanks Soaring!

Dye... Let's not start dying just yet. But, if you want to die, then get some Ritz Dye and drink that. Ain't the English language a hoot? Yeah, that wheel center would probably be used as a hubcap. Little rough around the edges too. Nice clean keyboard though.

Today I made two more. The size problum was somebody put a new 3/16 cutter in a 14 box. I figured it was right so I didn't check. Fixed now. I made a polished one and a machine cutter one for a total of three. I figured most of you would want to see the polished one installed so here it is.

Azure, what was the machining time from start to finish for that size of a piece?

The first one was slow, really slow, slow to the point that I started it 45 min before end of class, missed my lunch break and the class after that. After getting some better aluminum, and changing the feeds a little it went from that to about 15 min. Also this is on an old machine without a coolent system so I had to sit there with cutting fluid and a brash and dab it on. If I got the chance to put it on a newer machine probably around 5 min. Its amazing what a lot of cutting fluid can do.
