Default best rear end and transmission combo?

What manual transmission and rear end gear ratio is best?

Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum, but I thought I'd ask this question. I currently have a 66 coupe with a '67 style 289, c4 and an 8' rear end. I plan on rebuilding the engine to produce aprox 385hp, and using the car for daily driving and occasional strip use. I would like to use a four speed top loader or t10. what gear ratios are best to get good acceleration and drag time, but still not rev to high at highway speeds. what are the advantages of the t5 and t56? How do any of these hold up over 350hp or 400+hp? Or should I stick with the c4? Let me repeat that I like the look and feel of the original four speed. But will it’s 1:1 fourth gear to prohibitive? Any help, advise, or ideas would be great. Thanks!
