leaf spring kit

Has anyone put the leaf spring kit on there 68 mustang that has a lift of about 1.5 inches? I see them on the web and ebay all the time. Just wondering what a lifted rearend of a 1968 musatng would look like. Im in the process of restoring mine, I want the aggressive look b/c it's going to be one bad as* machine. I just don't know what this looks like or is it practical. Any help will be appreciated.

an inch and half rear lift from stock ride height would look rediculous unless you are planning on sticking some massive meats back there and dragging the thing. Even then, I think you can achieve an aggressive rake look from a stock ride height and playing with lowering the front. just my .02

The mid eye springs will lift your rear about an inch, and the reverse eye springs will lift it about an inch and a half. I agree with Mojoe. Unless you are olanning on huge tires in the rear, you will only be shifting weight toward the front, giving you less weight in the rear for traction. Why do you think guys put their battery in the trunk? To put the weight in the rear for traction. Duhhhh!

Any thoughts on lowering the front end? what steps need to be taken in order to do this, just buy differnt coil springs? any pictures of this mod. to the car. I would hate to buy the lowered coil springs and have it look like crap-ola..

Yeah, you can do what Mojoe suggested and install 620 front coils. You can also do the Shelby Drop. Look in the FAQ section above for directions in how to do that. Sorry, but it is a pretty complicated and long worded process. That's why we have all those how-to's in the FAQ section, so we don't have to keep repeating ourselves.

Got 620's and shelby drop on mine, quite a bit lower and feels much better in turns. If you're going to change the leafs be prepared for a project. Get plenty of beer, a cutting tool, and some pacience. If they have been in ther for 40 years ur likely goin to have to cut them out. good luck

Soaring, I have reverse eye leafs and they lowered my car in the back. I think you meant the opposite.

As far as lowering the front, I went with 620 coils and chopped out one of the coils. 2+" drop overall.

I bet a half inch raise in the rear would look good on my car. i have the shelby drop on the front. I like the rear to be alittle higher.

Its hard to tell what your final stance will be like until you've decided on a wheel and tire package. Measuring the overall wheel/tire height will help determine which leaf setup would let you achieve that raked look.
