intake manifold removal

Default intake manifold removal

OK quick question on my 289 i have a intake manifold gasket leak and am replacing it as we speak i am about to pull it off but i am afraid that when i do coolant is going to flow strait in to my intake ports on my head will this happen sec. when i put the new gaskets on will i need to use any silicon.

OK well i get all that stuff i am just afraid of coolant getting in to my head will that happen or are the jackets located some were the coolant cant reach the intake ports

ok i figured it out i will jut do an oil chang after i am done to get an exes coolant out of my oil

coolant...... i didnt have any when i took mine off.


oooo my fault, i forgot i have a clevaldna dnt the radiaor connects straight nto the block not the manifold

You have to drain your radiator before you remove your intake manifold! Otherwise you'll have coolant everywhere. I never had to change my oil after replacing my intake manifold gasket. Also, only use blue rtv sealant on the ends of the manifold, don't use those cheap end gaskets they give you. Make sure you use enough sealant to fill the gap.

i just get the ultra copper rtv its the same price and i also put a tad bit arount the ports cause the temps here move fast up and down and i do't want any issues

put the rtv in the four corners where the heads are. where the cork and other gasket meet up, there is always a gap there and will leak if you don't put the rtv there.

so i want to install the end caps or not and do i install all the gaskets at once then set the manifold on top then torch
