RE: Suspension
Drop spindles not req'd. You can go the new spring route, or just cut coils out of your originals. This will lower the car and increase the spring rating. Start with only cutting a half of a coil then see how low it is and continue from there.

RE: Suspension
Not if you only cut a half of a coil, but no more. Your coils on front are most likely 40 plus years old, and even though they still have some spring left in them, the metal has suffered stress. Personally, I would buy new 620 springs.

RE: Suspension
+ 1 As soaring said, my first choice would be new springs as well. But, if you wanted to keep stock parts, that would be what you would do...
Stock shocks can be used w/o a problem with the 1" lowering coil springs. And, if you do the shelby mod that may get you a little lower. There is debate about how much if any, but it is a good mod that improves the handling of the car...oh yeah...and the cost...NOTHING..well, maybe a couple of drill bits. I am ripping out my old suspension right now and I am doing the shelby drop, 620 lowering springs and KYB shocks, along with new suspension and steering components. I have done a lot of reading up on this lately, and this seems to be the most popular set up/bang for the buck. There are lots of posts discussing this. There is even a template around for drilling the two new holes.
Good luck
