Rockers for gt40 heads on 289?
I would like to put alum. gt40 heads on my 289 c.i. '65 fastback GT350 clone. What I can't seem to find is a roller rocker, stud, etc. combination that will work with the Repro "Cobra by Ford" valve covers. Can someone point me in the right direction???
I believe I may have to take the baffle off the Valve cover, but I can get around that.
Thanks,
Jon

Grabbem88,
are you sure you're not talking about stock roller block V.C.s? and the FRPP V.C.s that are for late model blocks?
The old "Cobra Powered by Ford" don't fit with pedestal mount rockers.

Cobranda sells the taller Shelby V.C.s that will fit (if it's still legal to sell them to non-Shelby owners). Or you can get spacers from Delta Mustangs for your stockers.
Sell your V.C.s and buy the tall ones from Cobranda for a leak free setup, and it's cheaper than changing your rockers.

The old-school valve cover will bolt down over roller rockers...but you'll have interference problems with the baffles and a lot of tapping noises. I used these covers for removing/installing the engine to prevent any damage to the good covers.
Newer valve covers made for the roller 302's will clear, however...but they're much uglier.
One option is a valve cover spacer, but that addes another gasket and possible leak point.
