new worste enemy... speed bumps
im just starting to explore the mod scene and realize when u lower a car things such as speed bumps become a major problem for things like headers that hang down. I was wondering how low ppl have taken then cars and what they do with things such as speed bumps.

I remember those damn speed bumps at shcool. Yes, the flange of my collector was scaped flat and dented. I don't know what height you are looking for as I found there were differences in speed bump elevations. I used to take the speed bump on an angle, that seemed to help. Sometimes I would gas it and kinda launch the car over the bump to miss the headers. And of course when I got caught doing that by the schools security(we called them the NARCS), I got the finger pointed at me with a warning. I'm just rambling because you brought back memories That was 22 years ago.

Man i live in the netherlands and they are everwhere the best bit is seeing these modified corsa (tiny car that tuners like in europe) going from speed bump to speed bump with there stupidly big exhaust 4" with maybe a 1.8l engine then zigzag slowly on the speed bumps and the bridges!!!

Most of my cars are low.. probably lower than yours.. I avoid speed bumps, even if I have to walk a long distance (which isnt easy for me) or drive a few blocks around them. Also have to watch out for roads that have low spots where the tires are, and high spots in the middle. I gotta drive on the high spots and hug the outside lines or the inside line. When I do get stuck witha speed bump that I cant get around, I will go over it at an angle, if you get enough angle the headers will come up far enough to clear the bump.
Had one at the entrance to my apartment complex. Since the sidewalk was higher than the speed bump and it was on both sides, I would just run two wheels on the sidewalk and two over the bump. Headers rarely touched doing that..
I always find it amusing when someone has a 4x4 with big tires and about 10-20" of ground clearance, slowing down and creeping over them like they are going to rip the oil pan off the Escalade/Excursion or whatever it is.. then they flip me a bird because I go over them sidewayz..
Oh and welcome to our world!
