Default What size is the nut on the oil pressure sender?

Whoever decided to put the oil pressure sender at the very back of the engine should be shot - that thing is near impossible to get to. Can anyone tell me what size wrench will get that thing off? I've tried everything I have but I can barely get my arm back there, let alone get a wrench on it...

Thanks!

I don't know if the sender on your 351C is the same one as used on the 1977 351W that resides in my 72... but for me, I needed to use a 1 1/16th socket (yes, that's right... 17/16ths... idiots ) and it had to be a deepwell socket as well. On the W the sender is located near the front on the driver's side of the block, near the oil filter / fuel pump, so I dunno if this will work for you on the cleveland.

wow odd size - I'll give it a try...

yeah on the 351c the sender is behind the carb almost to the firewall, I don't know how people access those things w/o the motor removed from the vehicle!

Just from the point of view of maybe saving you a few bucks for a tool you don't need... here is a pic of the oil pressure sender that was on the 68 cougar (302). The sender on the 351W is similar. There is no machined area on the piece for a wrench, you need to put a deepwell socket on the whole thing, and 1 1/16th just happens to fit. Other years have a machined area on the threaded portion which I guess is the 9/16ths Glen was referring to.
