Fuel Cells for Mustangs

RE: Fuel Cells for Mustangs
if ur worried about the mustang story with exploding gas tanks its really not that much of a problem the problem comes from unrestored stangs(cuase theres still so many on the road) that have preforated tanks if the tank in ur cars is new ull be fine for the most part the calssic stangs would actually meet the crash saftey standards for a new car except for 5mph bumpers seat belts and air bag they arent any less same than a new civic or other samesized car just think of how many people made it through the 60-70 just fine

A fuel cell is overkill for a daily driver. If you are concerned, then get tank armor which is a thick piece of steel that covers the top of the tank. http://www.autoworksracing.com/gas_tank_armor.htm
Then if you have a coupe, put a piece of steel between the trunk and the back seat.

RE: Fuel Cells for Mustangs
There are quite a few guys on other Mustang forums who run them. There are a lot of advantages to fuel cells. Try a search on stangnet.com, vintage mustang forums, etc. You'll find good information from people who use them in the threads there.
I'd suggest looking at Summit racing. Great tech support, and good pricing.
I plan to run a cell in mine for several reasons, one of them being the added safety. However the fuel cell I use will not be Mustang specific. I've had great success in the past running fuel cells in other cars. If you don't mind the extra work, you can get a better cell for the same money, or an equivalent cell for less. It will take some fabrication skills to do the install properly though.
Good luck,
