Default Red Oxide Primer?

I stripped the primer/paint/rust off my hood until it was completly shiny and now I gotta prep it. I went to the store to buy spraygun primer but they had red oxide primer, so I bought it instead. Isnt it great for protection and paint adheasion? The can said 2 in 1 but I dont know if it means primer and protection or what...

You need to first choose the brand of paint you want to use and go with their products so everything is compatible. Iff you are going to use PPG paint you need to use their primer.

Red oxide is a rust encapsulator as well as a primer. Therefore the 2 in 1. Some of the Ford factories used it for the undercarriage and didn't paint over it. But, since it is under your hood, you may want to hit it with color.

Red oxide is a color! Primers can be white, gray, red oxide. It is more the qualities of the primer than the color that will determine longevity. Red oxide works well under darker colors to improve coverage.

On the directions it says that this red oxide is compatable with nearly every top coat, so I thought I should be good with it.

Whenever I cleaned out my trunk I found redoxide, perhaps they did the whole chassis like that?
