They've fixed that problem on the 347. The short pistons, however, are more likely to rock in the bore causing noisy startups....and nosie=more wear.

The bottom ring intersects the piston pin on the 347 kit from what I have heard it doesn't have as long as a life as the 331. Definately go with the 331 kit as it will give you many more years of service... at least that is what I am going to do...

i spent just under 500 on my block, which consisted of boring and honing, 3 new rods, polish crank, cam bearings, main bearings, rings, a full engine gasket kit, plugs, as long as you do the assembly yourself you will save yourself some money.

The 331 uses the same rods and pistons as the 347. the only differnce is the 331 uses a stock 302 crank.

A 331 does not use a 302 crank...a 306 uses a 302 crank (with a 302 crank having a 1.5" throw, for a 3" stroke...along with a 5.09" rod). A 331 has a 3.25" stroke with a 5.4" rod. A 347 has a 3.4" stroke with a 5.4" rod.
347 Piston. 331 Piston. 302 Piston.

I have a 302, 331, and a 347 (boat motor). The only thing the same on the rotating assembly is the bearing journal sizes...
