I'm sorry if this topic has been touched many times before.

I've just picked up my first car...a 66 mustang with a wee lil inline 6...

Basically I'm looking for more power, more rumble under my hood. So I come to yall for help.

How much does it generally cost to upgrade from a l6 to a V8?

I was thinking something like a Ford 302 Stroker to replace the current ponies.

What do you want to get (9" rearend, 5 speed trans)? The cheapest way is to buy a parts car with all the parts you need. Go out and look for a parts car and that the price for parts plus a little bit more. I think in most cases it would be better to sale you car and buy a V8 mustang.

For everything you need? Figure on about 2-4 grand. Suspension,steering,brakes,wiring,motor and frame mounts,rear diff,driveshaft,transmission,tires,5 lug rims.
You may be better off selling the 6 and buying one with an 8.
