Default Check out my Transmission

Yesterday I drained the fluid and took off the pan and was suprised to see how clean it was in there! My dad and I are pretty much possitive it has been worked on fairly recently. What do you all think? BTW its an FMX transmission

How long ago do you think my tranny was worked on?

Looks good. Are the dark spots on the filter gunk or just fluid?

While your working on your car, add an external tranny filter. You'll greatly improve the life of your tranny. Summit Racing sells one from Trans Dapt that I've used on a couple vehicles.

They internals should always be clean if the fluid is kept good. At least that's what makes sense to me.

Hard to tell how long its been. It could have been sitting for years in new fluid and still look that good...
Very clean though

looks like a typical non burned up trans. They all look shiney and new inside, even some with burned clutches or cut/broken seals..

Thanks for the input guys. I'll look into that external filter. And the dark spots, I'd assume would be some sort of gunk, but the filter will be changed anyway.

In the days before quality engine oil was available many knowledgable guys would add a quart or two of Type A (Not thpe F which had 'improved' friction characteristics) in place of Engine Oil with their oil change

No need to now--The common brands of SE oils are much better all around.

That tranny could be several years old and never driven hard. Change the filter and fill-er up.
