RE: Stripped Tranny Bolt
you have basicly two choses 1 drill it and put a helacore in there, or 2 drill and tap oversize. If its out of the car number 1 is best but cover everything trans. don't like metal shaving at all.

Usually when I have them I will us a size larger bolt rather than the helicoil. the Helicoil is the best way to repair it, but also very easy to screw up and costs a bit more to do than a larger bolt.
There is no reason to tighten the trans pan bolts that tight, or any fastener on a transmission.. it wont stop the leak, it will only make it worse. Make sure your trans pan isnt all bent up from the overtightend bolts, or you will have leaks everywhere. Do a search for a leak fix on here, you dont want to just slap silicone RTV everywhere..

Yeah, if the pan is bent from over tightening of bolts, then just get a new pan. You will be fighting leaks forever with a bent pan. I too would just drill out the old bolt and tap it a wee bit bigger.
