Understandably there is some confusion. Yes, GT350 was in reference to the Shelbys. Not GTs. Unless I am mistaken and the GTs get the GT350 designation as well.

The reason I asked was I insisted on possibly 715cfm while the guy kept saying 850cfm. I told him he was wrong but had not back-up since i couldnt find info on the net. Now that I have heard what you guys have to say, it appears that 850 isnt the right number so the beers he owes me i will drink for you guys in thanks.

now the guy is backpaddling and saying he meant that the 850cfm is for the GT500...of which i told him none were present in 65.

ORIGINAL: Soaring

Holley 600 CFM. The GT had either an A code or a K code engine, and was able to produce 225-271 HP. Not quite as good as the later models, but pretty good numbers for back then.
Now for GTs where they really stock 600cfms? as in 1.12 stamped or 1.08? I was led to believe they were more on 460 or 480 cfm range? but i could be mistaken

You get real conversant with them when you owned one. I had mine for 11 years and still have a pile of trophys I won with it. Check my gallery for pictures of it. Several were taken at the SCCA divisional SOLO 2 runoffs in 1976.

The Autolite 4100 was 480 cfm, the Holley 1-191 service carb was 600 cfm. The GT Mustang was more of a package of dress up and some performance stuff than the Shelby was.

So would the GT package or rather the A and K code come stock with a 480cfm or 600cfm? Just wondering.

The A and K code engines came originally with the Autolite 4100, probably in the 480 cfm version. The A (225 hp) would have been an automatic choke and the K (271 hp) would have been a manual choke.

that is what i would have guessed. the trusty old 4100. the 600 cfm mentioned must have been aftermarket.

He must have been thinking about the 1968 Ford GT350. In 1968, a convertible option was added to the Shelby line-up, available with either a 302- or 428-cubic-inch eight-cylinder engine. The High Performance 289 cubic-inch V8 was no longer offered on the Ford or Shelby versions of the Mustang. The 302 was standard on the GT350, equipped with an aluminum intake manifold and Holley 600 CFM carburetor capable of producing 250 horsepower. 1968 also marked the year that Ford took over production of the Shelby vehicles with operations moving to Livonia, Michigan

Excellent info 85Lebaront2 you know your stuff. I am planing on doing a 65 fb restomod. Probly will use a 302 roller or 289 with AFR heads and Shelby cam specs and new internals. TKO and 9" TL rear. On the front upper control arms do you know the measurements to drop these? I have a template for a 67-68 but not the early cars. A great mod that really makes the car handle a lot better.
