Ask the place where you bought the first set if they know who the supplier gets theirs from. And then see if the new place uses the same supplier or not.
Did you compare the right side with the new one yet?

If you can't find any, I have a few stockers laying around from various Windsors. Post a picture or casting number of what you have, and I can probably match 'em.

ORIGINAL: 85lebaront2

The only difference was 2V or 4V. Sounds like someone is buying manifolds from either Mexico or China. I used 351W manifolds on a set of 65 289 4V heads installed on a 1970 302, no problem at all with plugs.

theres no difference between 2v/4v heads the cleves are different but not the 289-302 family

Good rule of thumb...
Never throw anything away until the new part is installed and functioning. I usually keep parts for a couple of years after that!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah - I learned that lesson the hard way and won't make that mistake again.

Tonight I am going to pull the left side original manifold off and compare it to the ones I bought.

I pulled the left side exhaust manifold - it looks the same as the replacement. The casting number on the original is C30E-9431-A. The replacement one has casting number C50E-9431-F. Not sure if the difference means anything.

I am going to put the new one on the driver side and see if it fits.

I got it! The drivers side manifold fit fine, so I went back and put the passenger side one on, but this time left the studs off the back. I pushed the manifold back as i tightened the bolts and now i can get to the plugs with a socket. I guess the times before, the new colector gasket was pushing the manifold forward just enough that i could not a socket over the plugs.

Thanks for all the advice and tips.
