Aint what i thought she was
My 69 Mach 1 with a 1990 302HO and a 4 speed toploader just lost to a BMW 3 Series. Now i know alot of you guys are very classic focused but i like muscle cars fast
I'm thinking ima have to re prioritize my paint job and go with the 351 crate motor first.

If it isnt fast, it isnt fun. If I dont want fast I will drive the beater Intrepid. Every other car has to run at least mid 13s or I will make it do so.
Ya a 302 isnt enough.. you need more... like a 514 CJ... yeah thats about right. You know the shortblock is right around $3000...

If it was an M3 don't be disapointed. That car pushes 330HP with great gearing balanced to the torque curve. Turns a low 13 quarter. Even the stock 330 is a fast little German snot.
How about stroking your HO block. You have a real advantage with that roller block. No flat tappet will give the same driveability with the amount of torque and HP a roller will. Plus the roller has a torque curve like a DC motor which really is where it's at on the street.
Stroked to 331 w/185's and a good fuel system, and you'd still have a daily driver at 350+HP. Add EFI and you could bump that to 450hp and still be a driver. Hell, pick the right parts and go 347, and you've still got a daily driver with longevity, and you bump the torque up quite a bit.
Now if you just want to dust that Bimmer between lights... add nitrous. Cheap and easy. A 150 shot ought to do it.

As soon as I sell my house I'm going spend a little of the profit on a 418W 500+ HP crate for my 1965. Any opinions? Any recommendations on reputable builders?
