c4 to AOD

RE: c4 to AOD
I definately agree on the TV cable need. I acquired an AOD that had been recently rebuilt and "wouldn't work in 4th". It came out of an LTD wagon with the EFI engine. The owner had driven it maybe 10 miles, The OD band was fried due to a broken grommet on the engine end of the TV cable. If you do not have a gauge to set the pressure, you can start with it a little tight, and gradually back it off by "feeling" the shift points. 3rd gear should be a nice firm shift as it is a mechanical only connection with no torque converter. If it is very late and hard, the cable is too tight (short) if it seems to "slide" into 3rd, it is too loose (long). If you get 3rd correct, than you shouldn't have a problem with OD burning out. Good luck with it.

It's not that hard to do. I've been playing with mine for 6 years. The directions from lokar are easy to follow. After the initial setup ( with a pressure gauge) you can stiffin up the shiffting by tighting up the cable but remember the pressures. Very important.....
Buy the way my AOD is a Lentech witch is over $4500 with out the converter and have yet to break it doing this procedure.

need to have a driveshaft cut first though. do you guys think it is worth getting a aluminum driveshaft?

Steel that has been alloyed with small amounts of Chromium and Molybdenum. ...A typical driveshaft made of chrommoly will cost you over $300.00 and they are used in serious race cars. You don't need one.

A Visa for the visits to the gas station.
Chro-Mo will allow you to grow well above 400HP. If you are staying at or below that level, and don't plan on sticky slicks with neutral slams from 4,500rpm, a stock tube will work fine. Aluminum is a nice way to go, if you stay off gravel roads. Light and strong.
Good luck,
