How did this hole get there?

I was snooping around under my car right obove the transmission i found this cut in the floor ....... anyone know how it could have gotten there?

That looks like something that some idiot did. I can't imagine why though. That really sucks.

What kinda of transmission do you have in the car and what kind of shifter.
That sure looks like the standard hole for a trans shifter to me are you running a cable shift setup on an auto transmission?

I believe its a C4 trans automatic with a B&M shifter

Well....then I'm going with the "it's the stock hole the factory puts in the floor for the shifter which was removed because someone installed an after market unit that was incompatible with the stock 65 mustang auto shift lever design" answer to your question.

It is factory made hole. You can see same hole in this picture taken inside of car. Some very creative person has been installed your after market shifter.
