Default Trans to motor problems!!

I have a 66 mustang originally 289, now 302 with stock c4.pulled torque converter out to replace front pump seal set back in properly then motor dropped in and set to tranny. Question is when bumping over to tighten all nuts(flexplate to converter). i discovered that where the weight is on the flex plate, the plate sticks out farther towards the edge of bellhousing, what could be causing this??Last thing to getting car going. any help would be amazing
