Bench seets are rare. I think I remember that there were something like 600k 67's produced and only 9000 had bench seats.
I have a 67 w/ the bench seat and I think it is cool. Not just for the rarety factor, but for the nice arm rest that gives me something to lean on, and also the ability for my girl to slide right on over when the need arises.

Besides, tho only difference between stock buckets and the bench is the arm rest and the center section. Otherwise they are the same. If you intend on keeping your car original, I would stay with the bench. If resto mod, go nuts.

Ceratinly they were low sellers because the buckets are viewed as sportier, and as mentioned above, benches seen as more of a family sedan type of thing.

Ultimately its your car, do what you like the most.

your numbers are WAY OFF. in 67 there were 472,121 mustangs made and 3,225 shelby's. of which only 9399 had bench seats. no shelby and no fastback had bench seats, only coupes and convertables had them. not many mustangs had bench seats, the are fairly rare. some people like them, i like them, but i wouldnt go out of my way to find one.

but if you had a 68 fastback deluxe with a bench seat then you are 1 in 256 that came with them, now THAT is rare!

Don't sell 'em. If you want buckets then that's fine but when it comes time to sell the car will be much more valuable with the benches in it.

The bench seats are rare because one of the key points of advertising for the 'Stang was its bucket seats which were uncommon for a car in its pricerange. Just because they were unwanted then though does not mean they'll be unwanted now. Kinda like one of these

I hate to burst your bubble, but that Edsel is still not wanted. What a POS that thing was. Bench seats were an option, so if you didn't want buckets, you had to opt for the optional bench seats. Not sure about this, but I don't think they offered them with the standard transmission because of going into the high gear would hit the seat.

I've seen show car condition Edsels selling for a considerable amount over 20k.

Advertised for 20K, or sold for 20K? Big difference.
