Default Doing Some stuff to my Stang!!!!!

Finally......I am doing some serious upgrades!

Intake
Edelbrock Performer RPM
Cam and Lifters

Edelbrock Carb 600cfm
Doublt Roller Timing Chain
new Water Pump
New gaskets

I am also gonna get new screws in my vavle covers, not a big deal, but ya, mine are super old and they are breaking [:'(]

So lets see, I have a 66 GT with a 302, stock intake timing chain and cam, and the carb I have right now is a 4bbl Holley, but it is old as heck and is breaking down, giving me some problems.

So my question is....how much HP will I gain from this, I know as well I will get a lot more torque

Lets see, I know I have like 240 to 260 right now, so I dunno I was seriously thinking about this, new cam 20HP? intake 20HP? Carb 20HP? Do these sound like they could be reasonable gains?

If so I'll be pushing 300HP minimum, hmmmm, your guys's thoughts?

Also the carb is a chrome one, it is gonna look nice

Check out my sig to see how my engine looks right now, and how it looked before [&:]

Glad to hear you are getting down to it. IMHO though, you are a little generous with your HP estimate. I believe the highest factory rating a 4bbl 302 had was 230HP. You are adding a nice package of goodies but if I had to bet, I'd think it will only put you in the 250-275 range, a little higher with good heads. BTW, do you have headers? I may get beat up for this but it's been my experience that a PROPERLY TUNED Holley will outperform a Carter AFB aka. Edelbrock. The Carter will be much more user friendly, trouble free and fuel efficient due to the smaller primaries but the Holley will have more grunt. That's not to say there is anything wrong with a Carter, I've run many of them over the years, they are pretty bullet proof. Keep in mind that the advertized HP gains for performance equipment is based on testing under perfect conditions in a perfect world. Good luck with your project. I'm sure you'll get a nice improvement with it.

I say your hp power will be from 275-300. If you don't have headers knock some off for that. A Holley is trash if its not set up right. If you got it set-up right, It work very well. What kind of pistons do you have? 10 to 1 flat tops work good. Some head work will get a gain in hp too. A MSD will help.

Nah, I don't have headers, or new heads, mine are stock, I don't have MSD either.

The only other things I have is a nice air cleaner, and Flowmaster 40's.

I plan on getting my transmission resealed, and I am also going to get a shift kit as well, just need more cash 1st

There are a couple of software programs that can be used estimate hp and torque, much better than folklore! Headers will help a lot, otherwise your exhaust is limiting your air pump, aka engine.

Even a stock points ignition will spark a mild street engine so you can live without the ignition upgrade. However, if you don't get rid of the stock exhaust manifolds, you'll get little if any benefit from your upgrades. I'd do the headers first.
