68 Shocks and Brakes

68 Shocks and Brakes
I have a 68 coupe - 289 v2.
1. The back end is extremely low. I already have new rear leaf springs to put in. But when I do that is it wise to do the shocks as well? Mustang's Unlimited sells the following kit:
SUSPENSION KIT,67/70 W/ KYB SHOCKS
Suspension Handling Kit for for 1967-1970 Mustang and 1968-1970 Cougar.
This kit includes a 1" diameter front sway bar with urethane bushings and end links, rear sway bar with hardware, and KYB shock absorbers.

Would a kit like this be good or just replace the shocks? If just the shocks, suggestions?
2. The brakes are drum all around. Keep them or convert to discs in the front?
Thanks

RE: 68 Shocks and Brakes
as far as the rear suspension goes, if the leafs are really shot, throw new ones in.... don't bother with the whole re-arching idea, everytime i see someone try that, it looks nice for a little then they sag again....
the other option for shocks is the ol' chicago style air shocks, they cost a little more than your regular kyb's or koni's but the adjustability factor is great. i have 245 60 14's on the rear of my 64 1/2 and if i wanted to i could go to 245 60 15's or maybe even a little taller depending on how much pressure you pump into them. i got mine from the local parts store, nothing fancy, just very functional.....
for the brakes, the choice is yours.... discs are great for stopping power, i just kept the drums cuz mine's a cruiser, not a racer

RE: 68 Shocks and Brakes
the kit is good because it upgrades the sway bars which helps handling, as well as KYB shocks which help too. You could just do the shocks, but the sway bars will make a big difference in cornering, so if your budget allows for it, you should do it.
Disc always are best to have in front, you could do a swap like that using junkyard parts to save some money.

These links all provide useful info on front end and braking.
