Default One possible method to install tach at reasonable price

Problem: Std instrument cluster at ´68 Mustang = no tach.

Solution A: Buy original tach from e-bay. Buy it now prive $599 = too expensive

Solution B: Install Autometer gauges. In too many Mustangs you can find Autometers = maybe not for mee

Solution C: Use some other Fomoco parts which are not so expensive. Courgar 1967 - 68 parts will fitt nicely and price is actually cheap = way to go

1. Original instrument cluster before I started.

2. Cougar parts which are needed.

3. Istalling begins by cutting away from Mustang back plate amp/fuel gauge place and also from Cougar back plate must cut to get tach installing parts.

4. Parts welded to Mustang back plate. Note that in the clock installing hole there is now place for oil pressure gauge.

5. Front side of the plate before sand blasting.

6. Testing how all gauges fit to modified back plate.

7. Time to paint needles.

8. Back plate came back from zinc shop. This is maybe little bit unnecessary, but still it is done.

9. Back plate is painted with base coat. Underside will stay in zinc surface.

10. Final color is pretty ugly shade of blue. This idea is adopted from GM. Color of the light is little bit more blue that with original white paint.

11. All little things attached to back plate.

12. Gauges in their place. Now I need only new front plate and I think this is quite nice instrument cluster.
