torque converter question
allright i have my engine and tranny now...and i think im ready to hook them up together....but.......always a but, lol.
On the torque converter there are 4 holes for bolts.....i have the bolts too....But I dont know what to do with them..
i thought you could just put the torque converter on the tranny and be done with it....here's a picture
whats your thoughts ?

RE: torque converter question
Your torque converter bolts to the flex plate on the back of the engine. Make sure it is all the way in the transmission then when you have it in place you can bolt it to the flex plate, manually crank the engine so u can get access to each bolt

RE: torque converter question
ok that makes sense now.... its been so long....
so i should put...
1. the metal plate againist the moter
2. bolt the flex plate to the engine first and then to the torque conveter ? (with the torque converter all the way in the tranny)
and i should a quart of tranny fuild in the converter right?
i saw in a previous post you guys said use type F ( i believe )

Yeah, bolt your flex plate to the engine.
Then slide your torque converter in the trans make sure its all the way in, if your not sure... then its not all the way in lol... you'll know when its in place
When i did mine i got all the bellhousing bolts started then put in the torque converter bolts.
Yes, type F tranny fluid, i believe its 8 quarts.
And I didn't put any fluid in the torque converter before installing... but who knows maybe its better if you do?
