Default New Heater Core, New Problems.

This is somthing that really sucks....espcially since i live in the south... I just got my heater core replaced this week in order to prepare for the winter (i drove last winter without a heater in my car), and when i picked up my car today the heater was working fine...only problem...(that i didnt figure out until i was well off on the road) was that the heater doesnt turn off!!!
I had a chat with a buddy of mine about it and he says that i need to get the heater switch turned off...which requires more mechanical labor to get underneath and make those switches....anywho, until i can get my car back to my mechanic...ima get to drive around in an A/Cless car, along with blasting heat...how fun.

there is a water diverter valve, its called a heater control valve, mounted on the firewall at the passenger side in the engine compartment. Over time, they get corroded inside and wind up sticking, usually in the open position, allowing hot water to continuously flow to your core, even when you arent asking for heat. It is vacuum operated, so either your vacuum lines are leaking or the valve itself is no good. Oreilly Auto Parts had a Jap replacement for my 68, plastic, but it does the job for about 10 bucks.

I saw the 50.00 one, and its metal, but looks nothing like the original , and it does not fit the original mounting bracket.

The one I bought from Oriellys looks exactly like the original, except its plastic. . I used epoxy to mount it, and it looks, and works just fine. Saved 40.00 too!
