i had all stock exhaust on my 289 and it was still pretty loud. i put long tube hookers on it and it sounds a lot throatier and meaner but a lot quieter. cant wait till i put some glass packs on it

Think I'll have a system installed by a local shop - got a quote of about $300 if I provide the trumpets. They will replace the h pipe back to the trumpets including mufflers - he sells magnaflows. Does this sound like a reasonable price?

eh, that's reasonable I suppose. He'll have about 2 hours and minimal material in it. That's assuming he will weld it, of course.

After you guys installed the new headers. Did you also get a burnt smell ? I picked up mine yesterday with the new headers & exhaust. But when i came home i smelled somthing burnt. I can't exactly place it, but maybe it comes from the gaskets between engine and headers.

Is this normal ?

Good to know that is a reasonable price. I need to ask if he will weld it - he told me that he would useclamps to attach the trumpets. Thanks.
