9" Housing HELP
I am looking to buy a nine inch housing from currie enterprises. there is an option for either disc or drum brakes. What would change due to what kind of brakes are going on the car?

Different length axles because discs take up slightly more space on the end of the axle than do drums. Also you might need more space behind the flange for the cailper bracket to mount.. It all depends on packaging of the brakes being used.

If you go with disc brakes, they weld different ends on the housing to bolt up the discs. The brakes are Explorer rear discs which are also pretty much identical to discs found on 93-98 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2003-2006 Jeep Wranglers.
If it were me, I'd definitely go for the discs over the drums. While both will stop the vehicle about the same when working properly, the drums tend to be a pain in the butt to keep adjusted. Those star adjusters just never seem to get the job done with the drums. In addition to that and easier brake changes, the parking brake with this disc kit seems to work a lot better than the drums. I'm guessing it is because it they never go out of adjustment like the drums do. The parking brake on the discs is actually a smaller drum and shoes inside the center of the rotor.
I had drums in my Jeep Wranglerbut swapped them out for Grand Cherokee discs and have never been happier. FWIW, if you decide to change from discs to drums later and want to use this kit, they have to tear down the axle, cut off the ends and weld on new ones. It is much easier and cheaper to do it now.
Good luck.

I have theFord Explorer disc brakes from Currie and gothand is correct about the rear end being the same length whether disc or drum. You'll also need the Lokar e-brake kit also available from Currie.
