66 Mustang Wheels
Hey, I was wondering, despite charts on American Racing, what that best combo I will be able to get under my coupe is. I want the custom torq-thrust II's, series 405 17x8 in the rear 17x7 in front. Will this combo definitely fit?
Backspacing is 4.5" on back and offset is 1.27mm on back. front is 4.25" backspacing and 7.62mm offest.

i have 17x8" bullitts all around on my 66. They have 4.5" backspacing and they fit perfectly. I do need to roll the fenders because the rear rubs a tiny bit over big bumps. Also check out Dodgestang's wheel chart. http://www.dodgestang.com/mustang.htm

i think 7's on the front are the maximum you can do- tires would probly be front 265 and back 275 nittos. nitto is gonna give us a pair, my dad did co sponsoring with them at the motive gear superbowl this year

yeah i dont think i wanna do any of that crap, i wanna keep it original. what would be good sizes for magnum 500's to get some power down. will likely be 400hp, 3.73 gear, 4 speed toploader.

Would you go with 7s or 8s on the front (if you were to do it over)?
What size tires are you running?

When you think about it, the smaller the tire you have up front the less power it is going to take the engine to turn that wheel. That is because there isn't as much contact with the ground (rolling resistance). This is also a disadvantage. The more contact patch you have with the ground, the better handling you will have. So there are compromises either way you go. If you're like me, i'm not building my car for the most horsepower. She is my daily driver right now and I want decent power with great handling.
So to answer your question, I would go with 17x8's again.
