302 H O

302 H O
I'm in the middle (2 years so far) of a full restomod on my 67 coupe. The car came with a 200c.i. inline six and C4 auto. I have converted the rear axle to a 9 inch and put on the Granada disk brakes on the front (springs etc).
Now I am in the market for a new engine. I have located a 302 H O that is in a 1989 Thunderbird. The engine currently has fuel injection.
Will this engine drop into the 67?
I realize that the bellhousing and torque converter must be replaced, but I understand that the harmonic balancer is different.
Thanks all.

Check out James website, he did an awesome job documenting the swap.

Yep, it'll fit. The newer 302 will have 50oz external balance versus the 28oz for the older engines. Just pick up the tranny/bellhousing for the year of the engine and it will mostly fit. You may have to alter the tranny mount a little, but it would be minor....and you could have an overdrive with electronic control.
