Default Bolts & Nuts for fender in engine compt.

Where to buy the flange hex bolts and nuts that go on top of the fender in the engine compartment? I installed the Monte Carlo bar and need to find matching nuts and bolts for the hole I just drilled... I have looked at places like the Paddock and others but they are all outrageously priced. Any ideas?? (BTW - Nothing at Home Depot was even close to what I was looking for..)

You're more **** retentive than I am. I just went down to Ace hardware and got two grade 8 bolts, washers and nuts when I put my Monte on. See if you like the looks of it. If not, then order from these guys. http://www.amkproducts.com/

I recommend using round head carriage bolts there on top of the fender apron. So you won't take a chance of damaging your hood. Paint them to match the gloss black bracket and it'll look sharp.

Fastenall has a very good selection. There's one close by the house and I use them all the time. They're a tad higher than say Home Depot or an Ace Hardware, but I don't have to wade through miles of **** I don't need to find what I do need.

Hey JamesW, the bolt heads don't even come close to contacting the hood. The original bolts don't even come close to hitting the hood. Why are you compelled to give out bad advice?

Soaring - I don't think James is giving out bad advice. It looks like he said "so you don't takea chance of damaging your hood". He's just erring on the side of safety just in case I think (ounce of prevention type of thing...) It's a good idea but I'll stick with the original type of flange hex bolts/nuts since they don't get close to hitting the hood. Found some on the 'net that weren't too expensive so I ordered them.

Not everybody's hood & fenders are aligned the same. That bolt area is further in than the fender bolts. If someone puts a washer under it, then it could potentially touch the hood and chip the paint. I was just trying to be conservative.

I didn't know the posts here were being graded.

Cool website - I'll have to get on there and check out what you've got that I can do to our Mustangs...

Hi James,

Not to be a butthead, but wasn't it your undercarriage I seen with about 1 1/2" of threaded rod sticking down about where the seats are located? When I seen that I thought if you run something over or hit a speed bump that will cause consideralbe damage to that nice floorpan. Nice car too! I wish I had my 65 fastback today
