exhaust feedback please
Completing some work on the exhaust of my '66 coupe. I definately want a muffler that provides some backpressure to help the lack of torque that theSBF is known for. Leaning towards a company called Jones Performance Exhaust. Nice two chamber muffler, well built. Ya, I've seen, heard, and used Gibson,Flowmaster, etc, but I'm trying to avoid the sound of the Expedition or Navigator next to me at the light. Can anyone provide their input or experiences with Jones Perf?

RE: exhaust feedback please
LOL my lil sbf 289 broke 3 driveshafts and 2 transmissions with its low torque.
The right cobo. intake, cfm carb and heads can turn these things into very torquey lil motors.
I have had 2 chamber flowmaster and tri ys on my old stangs and liked them.
My new project will get mangflow I think im getting to old for the 2 chamber rumble now.

I just took off a set of 2 inch center in/offset out magnaflows after driving with them for ONE WEEK. They are just as loud as flowmaster 40s, but more annoying. I was looking for a more "senior" hot rod sound. Just replaced them with a pair of Dynomax Super Turbos and I'm VERY pleased. Nice low rumble while cruising, but not overly loud. VERY quiet at cruise without the Drone Zone between 45 and 55 Mph. Best of all, when you "get on it" they open up with a VERY healthy sound that says, hey, look at me!! Best of BOTH worlds!! (Adult AND adolescent!) If you want to converse with your passenger, or listen to your new CD player, these mufflers are definitely the SH*T!!!!!![8D]

RE: exhaust feedback please
I use only flow-through muffler designs and have never experienced what I'd consider torquelessness. My favorites so far are the Edelbrock Performer RPM mufflers, which give good sound and definitely talk the talk.
The key would be to make sure your pipe is sized accurately. If you try to run 3" pipes, you'll be in trouble (sound good, though.). 1 3/4" pipes would be bad to the raspy side. Either 2" or 2 1/4" pipes would work best along with a good H-pipe.

1. Their website is very 1992
2. Seem like a 'local guy' at best based on 1.
3. Their performance mufflers appear to all be one chamber design, if you are harping about getting your back pressure 'just right' might not be the right choice based on the limited information available.

Good input. Thanks.
My objective is to keep low end throttle response, and a poorlyselected exhaustcan destroy throttle response.I guess torque was abad choice on words. Hey Colorado, you can lift up on the gas peddle any time, big guy.
