Default 67 Steering Column Wiring

I had a issue with the original harness, so i replaced it with a ford remanufactured harness.. everything went well, then it came to hooking up what became the last wire (red) which is supposed to be hooked to a ground along with another wire from the Back up switch (Red w/ blue stripe). when i ground the red wire, the flasher element begins to click and the shift indicator light blinks.. im thinking that theres a wire in the wrong place, because everyone know that the flasher is to make your turn signals flash, not your indoor lights, i might be out of luck asking here, but i thought id give it a shot, i might have to have someone who knows mustangs look at it..

I looked at my wiring diagram from jim osborn and the red wire looks like it should connect in line with the black/red stripe one rather than the red with blue stripe as you mentioned. I could be wrong since those diagrams make me cross-eyed to figure out...

Cogtx, is it this diagram, or do you have something different, the wire im talking about is numbered on here as 296 and its grounded along with another numbered as 140...

Yep, same diagram that I was looking at...doesnt 140 (black with red stripe)and 296 (red)go to the fuse panel? You mentioned red with blue stripe which looks to be wire number 32 rather than the 140...if I understand correctly, you have 32 connected to the red 296? If so, switch the 32 for the 140 and connect to the 296..huh...maybe? so confusing..[sm=insomnia.gif]

ok since we have the same diagram, im talking about the plug on the diagram directly below where it says back up lamp switch, its not that but the one right below... thats where the harness plugs in, to give you turn signals, e flashers, all that stuff.. well i got all that in correctly, and the last wire left is the red one (296) and according to the diagram it should be at a ground along with (140) the black w/ red stripe, which should be located near the fuse panel.. but i cant find any black w/ red stripe.. secondly i found a open plug which is two black w/ blue stripes, when i plug the 296 into it, the flasher element starts ticking, but the switch itself isn't engaged.. and to top that off, my shift indicator light starts blinking.. so theres a wiring issue around there, if i could just get a picture of exactly what should be where, it would make it soo much easier..
