Default Magnaflow vs Flowmaster

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this site.

I have a 1970 Fastback with a Boss 302 and want to change my mufflers and possibly my headers (see how the money goes).I'm definately going to put new mufflers on the car, but I'm wondering what products would sound better...Magnaflow or Flowmaster.

Thanks all.

i don't don't if this counts for the flowmaster/magnaflow mufflers that goes on a mustang.. but on a corvette i have heard a lot of people choose for the magnaflow.. a nice deep sound but not tooooo noisy.. they consider the flowmaster a bit too noisy.

but you with most muffler specialist you can hear the sound.. ..you also can check the flowmaster and magnaflow sites for sound files,

If you do a search on this board, you'll find a link for a Magnaflow kit for about $350 delivered. I know it is still in effect as mine is scheduled for delivery Thursday.

I've got a 302 1970 (unfortunately not a Boss) but put ceramic hooker comps (not super comps) and maganflow and like set up a lot. Not too loud and sounds good when you get on it - I listed to flowmasters and sounded too loud for me. Not sure about boss engine what would make sense - I thought the heads are from a 351.

The magnaflows will give you a more tuned and definitely a noticeably quieter rider. Flowmasters tend to be a lot more droney and obnoxious, so it depends on your likings. I am running flowmaster 40's and love them, but I also like a noisey *** ride. At 35-40 taching around 2500rpm, you can forget about trying to have a conversation in my car.

edit: nice boss btw...clean lookin ride!

me too, and i agree lol. flowmaster does make a few different series so i would also look into those (everyone gets 40 series or doesnt get flow's at all)

i have heard borla's and mac's also sound good.

has anyone used the hooker aerochamers? always wondered about those.

oh yeah, and VERY nice ride

Decisions decisions...hmmmm. I'll see if both sites have sound files like Arthur said. I love the growly sound, but I'm not sure how loud the Flowmasters would be on my car. Darn. Nice rides too guys.

Thanks for all the input.
