What First?

What First?
I'd like to get a little more hp out of my 302 I have. It already has a new ignition system on it, a new Edelbrock Performer 289 intake manifold, a new 4 barell carb, and a new K&N air filter. My question is, what should I do next to increase the power? I only have about $300-$400 to work with. What should I do?

RE: What First?
gears for the win.
You could do exhaust, but with a 400 budget, you won't be able to do a complete system (i.e. new pipe,x orh crossover, hedders, mufflers, tips, labor...), which is the best thing to do when your ready for new exhaust.
With gears, you'll probably only be able to get a ring and pinion set and not a limited slip unit, but adding a lower (#'ly higher) gear set will make a world of a difference.

I'm sorry you guys but I forgot to mention that I have headers on it already. Maybe I'll try a new cam though. One of you guys said something about a limited slip unit, how does that help?
P.S. I'm kind of learning about cars as I go along so please bear with me here. Thanks.

Well you might be able to get a decent limited slip (posi) carrier for your budget, but you're not going to have any $$ leftover to pay for labor to get the thing installed. I recommended gears as another performance adder because they change your rear end ratio, which can improve your offline acceleration.

RE: What First?
I would get the gears and limited slip at the same time to save installation fees. You're looking at $700-800 for quality parts, plus a couple hundred to install.
Finishing your exhaust (H or X pipe and a couple good mufflers) would be good. If you have that, or a decent dual exhaust, start upgrading your valvetrain. Roller rockers would be good. They won't provide a lot of power themselves, but will provide a good start to a solid engine.
