Default Future plans. Need some help guys

My dad just picked up a 1966 mustang that we're planning on fixing up. I shouldn't say fix up becauese this thing is damn near pristine as it is. Right off the bat he's doing paint and wheels as well as disk breaks. I've got him convinced to do some cosmetic stuff (as far as hoods and such) as long as they don't modify the original parts because as of now, everything on the car is exactly as it was from the factory. We are doing the sound system for sure though. Right now, there is a 12 CD changer in the glove box and we want to retain the factory radio on the outside, keeping the interior looking completely stock. What do you guys suggest as far as a sub/speaker/amp setup as well as hoods, wheel setups and such. I'm new to this part of the forum so I'd appreciate the help.

James

what kind of look do you want to go for as far as changing the hood and wheels? subtle changes, or big changes?

well I spoke to you earlier about the wheel setup you had on your car. Both of us have always liked the look of polished bullits so I think we'd go that route as far as weels. As far as hoods, we're open to anything I think as long as it's the whole hood and not just a glue on hood scoop. If any of you know a good place to look at different cosmetic products for these cars, let me know.

James,
You need to go through the steering, suspension and brake components. When I got to rebuilding the front end on our '65 I found all kinds of rusted things. Sway bar link was whittled down to 1/4 of its original diameter and just waiting to break off. I converted to disc brakes on the front by using the Granada conversion (CSRP) - see Dennis for that. Good stuff and not to expensive.
Check out theseguys' websitesas they have been there and done that with resto or mods.

any mustang vendor out there will have plenty of body mods you are looking for. Mustangs Plus has a bunch.

IMHO form follows function, if it needs it or it will make it do something better then its worth doing. Brakes are in that category, so are engine performance parts. Cosmetic stuff isnt... but if you want a hood, and it to look period correct, check out the teardrop scoops that were on Thunderbolt Fairlanes, they look pretty good on a Mustang. Otherwise the stock hood will cover your stock engine just fine..

just my .02
